REUSABLE RED BALL TRAP

This trap captures both sexes of the Apple Maggot. Apple maggot control has been achieved by using just the traps as a mass trapping method, placing traps in every tree. Be aware that under heavy fly pressure, damage may still occur especially in late season close to harvest. For backyard trees, place 1-2 traps per dwarf tree, 2-4 per medium size, and 4-8 traps for very large trees.

Kit includes 3 ball traps plus an 8 oz. can of brush-on Tangletrap adhesive.
                                       IPM-1040K          $ 14.90

APPLE ESSENCE

Use of this apple volatile will increase the ball traps efficiency by attracting flies from all distances. Once they are close to the ball trap they will be attracted to it for mating and egg laying upon which they are captured. When using the apple essence, 5 flies per trap average now becomes the action threshold for making a spray decision instead of 1 fly captured for using the trap with no attractant. Each vial contains enough attractant to last one full season. We recommend placing the vial about 12 inches away from the ball trap by tying it to the same scaffold limb the ball trap is hanging from. NOTE: Backyard trees do not need the apple essence as the trap itself is effective in a few trees.
